Dignity in the Story

In law, the story is the fact. To judge a human without their story is to dehumanize a living soul and treat it like a broken machine.

Affording an individual their "day in court" is the ultimate expression of dignity, for the right to exist and to be understood is the highest form of human worth. It is the moment we cease viewing a person as a case number and begin seeing them as a human life.
